Project manager

I have considerable experience of managing both traditional waterfall and more agile projects. I’ve recently delivered large waterfall projects for Principality Building Society and agile projects for the Civil Service. I manage these projects myself and also as a programme manager with senior project managers reporting to me. Every project is different and I tailor my approach so it’s appropriate for the project, the client and the team.

I have successfully project managed the delivery of many projects from small website improvements to large scale redevelopments with budgets of hundreds of thousands of pounds.  My broad experience of digital means I understand the traditional waterfall processes which are required to get from a project kick-off to a successful launch.

  • research and strategy
  • service design, IA and user experience
  • visual design
  • build, development
  • testing and deployment

With more flexible or agile approaches these stages are less defined and the process welcoming of change. I have delivered several large projects using agile methodologies including Protect the Human for Amnesty International UK and Civil Learning for the Civil Service.

My experience across these approaches means I can optimise the approach so it appropriate for the project and client. I prefer somewhere between the two approaches which brings the flexibility of agile with the assurance of waterfall.

Underpinning all of this I have very strong budget management and awareness of tracability and clarity. I am great at getting the best out of teams and playing to individual’s strengths.  I can sense where the risks and tension points will be before they arise – minimising inefficiency of time, money and effort.
